Competitive trailers rely on either a 4-sided tube or a U-shape extrusion (Fig. 3) for subdecking for live-floor support. East uses only the 4-sided tubular subdeck design to support all moving floors (Fig. 4), which is up to 70% stronger than U-shape extrusions.

For moving floors, a U-shaped extrusion lacks in structural support, and can flare out under pressure. When this happens, the UHMW bearings can wear out prematurely, causing the flooring slats to detach. This problem is often not detected until it’s too late for an easy repair.
